Father's Day!

 Have I mentioned how lucky my kids are to have such a great Dad? David is an amazing husband and an even more amazing Dad to Oliver and Ruby.  He works hard teaching and coaching but when he comes home he always makes time to talk to and play with Oliver.  I often find him wearing crazy hats, singing & dancing, helping Oliver learn letters and numbers, hiding under blankets or running circles through our apartment b/c Oliver wanted him to run the bases or to race. His patience is unbelievable!  Just watching his face when Oliver learns something new or Ruby smiles at him will tell you how much he loves his kids.

 

This year for Father's Day, Oliver painted a picture frame for David to take to school and put on his desk.

 

 

Then we made banana walnut pancakes!

Ruby just sat and looked cute :) So excited to celebrate David as a Father of TWO!!

David and Oliver found a baseball field close by.  There is almost never anyone on it so we are able to go out and play a lot. He gets so serious when he bats and he knows exactly what he wants to happen.  Oliver and David take turns pitching and batting and then running the bases. I have as much fun watching him as he does playing!

Ruby figured it was a good time to get a nap in :)

David has a football training game for the wii.  He introduced Oliver to it last week.  Needless to say Oliver is in love with it! David even hooked up the sensors for him and it is awesome to watch!

I almost always have my camera in my hand or close by.  Oliver naturally is starting to get interested and wanted to try it out.  It was fun to see him try to figure it out and then watch how proud he was when I actually got onto the screen :)

dog bowl

David took Oliver to the Bats game.  Apparently it was dog night at the ball park and they were giving out free dog bowls... why not get one when you don't have a dog?  Oliver decided it was definitely a good idea to eat his cereal out of it! This boy cracks me up!!

bridge and splash park

One of our first big outings together was to the bridge downtown and an impromptu visit to the splash park.

I had totally forgotten that the splash park was right there at the bottom of the bridge.  It was hot and of course Oliver wanted to get wet.  So we stripped down to his shorts and went for it. I think he giggled for an hour straight!

He was a little hesitant at first but eventually got into it and was running wild through the water.

zoo

David was able to take Oliver to meet Tim & Pam and the kids at the Louisville Zoo.  Ruby and I stayed home but it sure looks like they had a lot of fun!!

David said the zebras were the best.  They were chasing and playing with each other. It sounds like they got to see quite a show!

good big brother!

Oliver has been amazing with Ruby!! I was so nervous that he would be throwing the ball at her to play catch or squeezing the life out of her with his hugs but he has been gentle and aware of her all the time.  When we put her on her mat for the first time he spent quite awhile showing her each animal and telling her what they are. It was so sweet. He is going to be one great big brother!

Mark and Cindy were able to come down for a visit after Ruby was born too.  We had a nice time visiting.  Mark, David and Oliver went to the Slugger Museum... It was definitely a place all three of them loved! We also got to go for a long walk together and one night David and I were able to go out for a few hours.  We are so glad they were able to come and get some quality time with our kiddos!
