the zoo

On Friday of spring break we went to the zoo. It was packed!! We thought it would be a chilly day and not too crowded... instead it was 65 degrees and half of Louisville was there! We still had fun though and Oliver was more than excited to see all of the animals. He would run up to one and look for a second and then say "ok guys, lets find more animals!" and off we'd go to the next one. I just love watching the excitement on his face when he sees something knew or something fascinates him.

 

 

 One exhibit that really got him was the polar bears. He watched with big eyes for a long time. One of the bears was very active diving down in the water and playing with a big stick.

 

 

 The giraffes were the other big hit of the day. They were very active and came right over the gate and looked at us. Oliver went into a fit of giggles watching them.

I can't believe spring break is almost over. It is always a teaser for summer. Only 7 weeks to go though... there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

bats vs mud hens - opening night!

For the second year in a row we made our way down to Slugger Field for opening night.  It was much colder than last year but still a great night... great seats, an exciting game, and a night out together, you can't ask for more than that!!

 Doug got us these awesome jerseys for Christmas... Cutest pair at the park!! My prego belly wouldn't allow me to squeeze into mine so maybe this summer we  can do that!

 While we were definitely cheering for the Mud Hens, it was pretty exciting to watch the Bats pitcher.  He was perfect through 5 innings!! Then the Hens were down 3-0 going into the ninth. Somehow managed to tie the game but then lost in extra innings.  It sure made for a fun night!!

 After the game Oliver was fascinated by the tractors working on the field... that and the music that was playing. This boy can have a dance party anywhere!! I sure hope he never loses his spirit!!

I didn't get a picture of it but feel like it needs mentioning... At one point in the game David took Ollie for a walk, when the came back David's arms were full with a baseball helmet full of popcorn, a pretzel, and a Gatorade... I think Oliver could convince to get anything he wanted at a ballpark!!

railroad walking bridge

Yesterday we went with the Parrotts to check out the new walking/biking bridge downtown.  They turned an old railroad bridge into a trail connecting Louisville to Indiana.  I thought it was a great idea when I heard about it but now that we've been up there I'd say it was definitely a fantastic idea! Such a great way to get some exercise and enjoy some view of the river.  I'm excited to come back this summer!

The boys sure loved running, checking out the boats, and looking at the water.  Afterwards we played on the big playground for a little while.

 

baseball season is here!

Tiger's played their first game of the season.  Needless to say David was like a kid in a candy store! We made sure we were all decked out in Tiger gear :)

And no game is complete without snacks... Oliver chose a Peep Sucker.

 

Easter

Despite the weather predictions for rain, it turned out to be a beautiful Easter. We went to GG's church for a really nice service and then went home to see what the Easter bunny brought and eat a big brunch! So glad we were able to be with family this year!!

 Thank goodness we had a practice hunt... Ollie was much more prepared for the real deal :)

 Until he realized there were real eggs... then he just wanted to eat them.  He would pick through the eggs he found and leave the plastic ones behind. Then Uncle D showed him that there was candy in the plastic eggs. He wouldn't put the candy down. I think he's paranoid someone was going to take it all from him!

 After they were stuff with brunch and chocolate they all snuggled up to watch Wreck it Ralph.

 

practice egg hunt

On Saturday, the kids were so excited about finding eggs that we decided to hide some empty ones in the yard just for fun.  It was awesome watching them find and collect them.  Josh and Emma clearly knew what they were doing, found eggs and loaded up their baskets quick.  Oliver on the other hand wasn't so sure.  At first he didn't want to pick up any eggs then he got very particular.  He would pick up an egg, inspect it and then put it back down.  Eventually he started putting the ones he liked into his basket which led to a hilarious episode of him trying to get the green egg in the basket.  He kept missing the basket and probably tried 10 times to get that egg. I'm not sure if he knew what was happening or if he thought he found 10 green eggs :)
